I bought a 49" samsung 8 series tv, its been a year and two months. Never used this tv without an additional stabilizer, as it comes with an inbuilt one. All of a sudden tv stopped working, tried to power on and just samsung logo appears on it and then a black screen comes up. It's not worth to spend, i use to have a sony tv before never had such issue on it.

49" Sucks

Just recieved this TV as a gift. Was very Excited. Due to size limitations 49 was the only viable option for our home, turns out, 49" is missing the very features we wanted and only available in larger sizes. So much for a 700$ oops. BAD call Samsung. ALL our devices are Samsung, 8 phones, 2 tablets and 3 tv,s. Since it was a gift shipped to us return is a nightmare. Screen quality is sharp but any movement is scetchy at best, our 10 year old Aquaos by Sony is better in any action or fast paced films/shows. Wife won't even watch it. It gives her a headache. Huge disappointment SAMSUNG by otherwise loyal and impressed customers. Oh, the remote and interface are great, other than that,save your money.

This TV has an excellent display of over-the-air programming information. It really works well displaying not only by channel but also by time. I wish it had station "add on" capability instead of having to reprogam all channels. "Add on" would be of benefit to those with directional attennas and several locations from which to receive a broadcast channel/

Picture Quality Problem

I have had this TV for 3 days as a replacement to my absolutely perfect picture 2011 Samsung which stopped working. The picture quality cannot be compared as sitting in front of it and close up is great picture but the slightest turn to the side which is how our chairs set, the picture is not good, no clarity, no sharpness, not good color. Extremely disappointed. My bedroom TV, off brand, not smart, is much better picture.

Just managed to get it fully working in smart-TV mode, using my WiFi net, after expert support from Comcast tech, involving replacing corroded connectors on all in-house RF cables from splitter box, and repositioning two WiFi extenders (required specialist measuring equipment. The TV itself has perfect picture sharpness and beautiful colors. Its remote has few buttons and, in itself, simple operation. It's almost too simple, requiring too many complex actions to achieve most, but not all functions the standard Comcast remote does, making me use both, basically in-productive. TV was bought at great Xmas discount, directly from Samsung.

I have had this TV for a few weeks. It was an easy set up, even for not so tech savvy. The sound is a nice upgrade to the point where (Thankfully) no sound bar is required. Those things are atrocious and very annoying to deal with. The picture is crazy good with incredible detail. To this point we are very happy with this TV and hope it lasts for more than 2 years. Time will tell. The price was a good bit ore than lots of the black Friday specials, but those lower end devices simply do not measure up to this unit. I am glad we spent the extra on on. It is worth it. LOVE the fact that you can see the picture without looking straight on. Viewing at significant angles from the sides is no problem. Can see the picture with no distortion.

This is going to be more focused on UI standpoint of the device, looking at it from a perspective of a non-expert. Display and Design - Very good. Picture looks almost good right out of the box with base setting. Body and the bezel is really thin, with a sturdy stand. Interactive source** - This is where I am going to spend a lot of time. User interaction is TERRIBLE. Obviously, I feel this way since Samsung is a leading brand in TV market and needs to be better than this. Also, this particular device is not cheap. Here's why I think it is so bad. 1. Bixby - (Comparison to Google Assistant) Here is the list of reasons why BIXBY sucks. a) Does not recognize the words very well. Even when spoken slowly, I can hardly get the right word registration on the first try. b) Not smart enough to auto-correct with word-relevance. ( If I say "Cincinnati Bengals," it will register the word "bangles," without ever correcting it) c) CHANNEL change - I have to say "One thousand-sixty" to get to channel 1060. I cannot say "Ten - sixty." These are little things that show how behind BIXBY really is. d) It always requires at least one or two buttons to be pressed when you search for something. ( It always asks back "is this is what you were looking for," even for a search like "family guy.") e) For certain searches, it just freezes up. ( If I say "Ohio State Buckeyes," it literally says, "sorry I can't do that.".... Hmmm???!) f) So specific languages, causing people to think that they need to learn something new to utilize this. Or they might find pressing a few buttons to be less hassle. Here is another list of things that GOOGLE AI can do that BIXBY can't. ( I had experience with LG UHD tv with LG ThinQ and Google Assistant) a). Be activated in any application or a type of source you're utilizing. b). Understands way more commands, and is so much more informative. I like finding out scores of sports games. This will allow to do that. It just feel superior in AI technology with auto-correction of words. I'm no expert, but even I can naturally just feel it. c)You can say the same command in multiple ways. 2. Remote Control - Great physical design, not so much for UI standpoint. Remote control sucks. I cannot believe that this is the way they imagined people using the remote. a) BECAUSE THE VOICE ASSISTANT SUCKS, they needed a better functional remote. You don't have that with Samsung one remote. There is no SETTINGS button. Literally, you have to press two or three different type of buttons multiple times in order to get to the settings menu. It's quite crazy that the setting button is not recognized as being as important as other buttons on the remote. b) Number button - This is mostly not utilizable. Like if you want to press "19," it will require you to press arrow keys literally more than 10 times. If you make a mistake, it will require so much more buttons pushing. I think they could've utilized the wheel to navigate through number pad/dial more fluidly. c) Multiple buttons pressing. If you want to go forward, I've experienced, that you need to press the "play/pause" button AND then use the arrow key. It must be because not all applications are optimized for Samsung, which has been in SmartTV business for how long? I just don't see the justification of getting rid of so much functionality on the remote. LG magic remote looks ugly, but is so much more functional. Even with a really good Voice Assistant, it kept all the functionalities. Samsung, even without a good voice assistant, got rid of all the functionalities. It is just crazy to think that the developing team thought it was good enough - (Also, I believe the remote design hasn't changed in years). FINAL NOTE - I was a customer who was looking at NU 6900 - a lower version without the bixby command - and NU8000 - with Bixby command. I ultimately went with NU8000 model, because I was lured into thinking that VOICE AI is so great with a sleek looking remote. Here is the issue -- There could be people like me who will spend more money to get to NU8000 for the voice command. But, I started to wonder if that was the right choice, because the AI interaction is so poor. Samsung differentiated these models based on the usability and utilization of BIXBY. But, since it is terrible, I just can't justify the pricing structure of the NU lineup in lower model numbers. Either make NU8000 cheaper, because BIXBY sucks, OR make the BIXBY better (or utilize Google Assistant) to the point where users can justify the existence of the voice system and the reason to pay more for the device. Right now, I cannot recommend a regular-old person to purchase this device over NU6900 version (Paying more than $200 more for a little better picture quality and a terrible voice system? I don't think so). IF AI is relatively important to you (If you like simplified commands), I would most likely recommend other brands with GOOGLE ecosystem. Samsung - The picture qualities aren't the only thing people care, hence all the brands going into AI interface structure. TVs are no longer just a display, but a source of interaction itself. If other top brands like LG and Sony can provide better interface, while providing similar picture qualities, I personally believe a lot of people will start to choose them.

This TV is so amazing...I love it. The clarity of the picture is super clear and makes me feel like I am actually there. I am seeing details in movies I have watched 10's of times that I have never noticed before. Such an eye opening experience watching this TV. The picture quality and watching experience is so good my wife actually stays awake and finishes the movies with me now....a rare experience in the past. The physical design is so nicely designed that I hardly notice it. The user interface is excellent but I would love to have a dark mode for nighttime viewing as it is super bright and striking when the menu is activated and hard to look at in the dark but by no means is it a deal breaker. Smart TV functions have everything I need for a basic core experience but a few more apps and channels would be really great. On that note it does pair up with my external digital streaming device but I was unable to pair the remote correctly so I could use just one remote...someday I will figure it out and bliss will follow. The remote is wonderfully sleek, easy to use, has impressive around-the-corner range and it's only drawback is accidentally sitting on it has taken me far from where I was watching in a split second, much to the great confusion of all watching. It was super easy to set up, both physically and digitally and takes up very little footprint compared to my old tv. I look forward to wall mounting it eventually but I almost feel like I don't need to at all. All-in-all a perfect addition to my digital watching experience. I LOVE IT.

I am a HUGE samsung fan. Most of what they put out is always great, quality products. This tv is no exception. Straight out the box its super easy to setup and log into. Its fast, responsive and has great features. I game alot on it and the colors and framerate are to die for. Game mode is perfect for fast paced games and when tons of things are happening on the screen. The volume is surprisingly good for a tv. Samsungs series line of tvs sets a high bar for performance and just knocks it out of the park.

Picture Worth a Million $$$

I have the 2016 version of this model and this one is brighter. It also has a clever channel on the back of the TV to hide the cords. The bezel is thin like a phone bezel. The HDR color is saturated and beautiful, the picture is crisp and realistic, and HD content on this TV looks like it is 4K.
